Advance Auto Parts, parent company of Carquest Canada, has confirmed the departure of Carquest Canada President Steve Gushie.
Gushie has held the role of President of Carquest Canada for more 15 years, and has a 40-year career in the automotive aftermarket.
He also served as Chairman of the Carquest-WorldPAC Charitable Foundation. He joined the board of the Automotive Aftermarket Retailers of Ontario in 2020.
“Our team is grateful for all of Steve’s contributions to the business, and we have begun the search for his successor who will focus on continuing Carquest’s growth in Canada,” says Cliff Cermak, Sr. Public Relations Manager, for Advance Auto Parts.
“Canada is a great market for both our Carquest and Worldpac brands, and we’re excited to offer more parts availability than ever through our new Bolton distribution center,” Cermak continues.
“Combining our operations in Bolton enables us to serve thousands of professional repair shops and automotive dealerships across central and eastern Canada through one facility.”
Gushie started in the automotive aftermarket more than 40 years ago, beginning his career at the age of 15, working after school for McKerlie-Millen Automotive in London, Ontario (the predecessor of Carquest Canada).
There he worked at the warehouse part-time to pay his way through university. After university, he stayed in the business learning every aspect, including as a counterman, store manager and outside sales representative.
After time in financial management and regional leadership, he took on the role of President of Carquest Canada in 2006.
He lives in Caledon, Ontario, and is married with three children and two grandchildren.
