Word has reached us of the passing of Dick Fisher on Saturday, November 2, 2024 in Kingston, Ontario.
Dick Fisher started his automotive career as a journeyman / salesman with Bourk’s Ignition back in 1963. His territory was expansive and took him all over eastern Ontario.
Ten years later, Dick became a partner in the company.
The Fisher family acquired the two Bourk’s Ignition locations in Kingston in the year 2000 just as the other branches were being sold to another concern.
Since then, the business flourished as Fisher Auto Parts and Equipment.
Fisher was awarded the Jobber News Jobber of the Year award in 2004.
“I was,” he told this writer with a smile, “a bit of a black sheep. I always looked for something different. You never know where the automotive trade is going to go. You always have to be looking for a different niche.”
“I am sure there were a lot of people who thought we wouldn’t make it on our own, but I really believe that we have built up customer loyalty over the years, and maybe doing the training, and definitely doing what we say we are going to do.”
That attitude led him to be regarded as possibly the most respected person in all of Kingston’s automotive aftermarket.
Dick is survived by his wife of sixty years, Donna as well as his children Christine, Shannon and Shawn.
As per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations to The Kingston General Hospital would be appreciated.
