Automotive Parts Distributors (APD) has announced that it’s Fall Super Show in Saskatoon, Sask., was a success.
This was the first show APD has hosted since 2013 when it held its Tool and Equipment Expo.
“The idea was to expand to all aftermarket lines,” said Zara Wishloff, shareholder of APD, “We wanted to bring the show back to Saskatchewan. It had good momentum in the past, but was a strain on our staff. The addition of some experienced new staff joining APD gave us the resources needed to relaunch the event.”
One of the noted features at the APD Super Show was a Castrol sponsored display of show vehicles.
The show was the day after a Business Management course that APD’s Training Division was hosting with industry consultant and trainer Bob Greenwood, so some out of town guests were already on hand in Saskatoon. Clients walking the show came from as far away as Williams Lake , B.C. and even Quebec.
“We had a few surprises,” Wishloff continued. “We had more clients come from Alberta than expected, and we also were caught off guard when CTV news showed up to put together a piece that aired on their 6 o’clock news.”
APD is one of the remaining distributors not selling retail in their markets. Without the opportunity of a clearance bin at the front of a store, they utilize this show to offer a Garage Sale to liquidate some inventory items.
A schedule of Blue Light Specials ran throughout the day. People stood in line for up to two hours to secure Smoke Monster smoke machines at a discount.
