Word has reached us of the passing of Dick Fisher on Saturday, November 2, 2024 in Kingston, Ontario.
Dick Fisher started his automotive career as a journeyman / salesman with Bourk’s Ignition back in 1963.
His territory was expansive and took him all over eastern Ontario.
Ten years later, Dick became a partner in the company.
The Fisher family acquired the two Bourk’s Ignition locations in Kingston in the year 2000.
Since then, it’s been known as Fisher Auto Parts and Equipment.
He won the Jobber News Jobber of the Year award in 2004.
“Dick Fisher is one of those guys you just can’t seem to bottle up,” I wrote in that magazine celebrating the award.
“I was,” he said with a smile, “a bit of a black sheep. I always looked for something different. You never know where the automotive trade is going to go. You always have to be looking for a different niche.”
That attitude led him to be regarded as possibly the most respected person in all of Kingston’s automotive aftermarket.
Dick is survived by his wife of sixty years, Donna as well as his children Christine, Shannon and Shawn.
As per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations to The Kingston General Hospital would be appreciated.
